Hmmm, the main issue I see here is that you see human workers as product-builders. While it is often so, mostly do not. Humans are trust-builders.

Our constant problems with the SMB IT sector of Central Europe is that small business owners just do not trust the salespeople we send to them. They either want to meet our business owner, and get a promise directly from him, or they want to meet me, the programmer, and want a promise from me that I will personally solve their problem.
